Thermal Infrared Face Segmentation: A New Pose Invariant Method
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a method for automatic segmentation of images of faces captured in Long Wavelength Infrared (LWIR), allowing a wide range of face rotations, expressions and artifacts (such as glasses and hats). The paper presents a novel high accurate approach and compares its performance against three other previously published methods. The proposed approach uses active contours, morphological filtering and several other image processing operations. Experiments were performed on a total of 699 test images from three public available databases. The obtained results improve on previous existing methods up to 29.5% for the first measure error (E1) and up to 34.7% for the second measure (E2), depending on the method and database.

A Hybrid Algorithm based on Deep Learning and Restricted Boltzmann Machine for Car Semantic Segmentation from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)-based Thermal Infrared Images
Nowadays, ground vehicle monitoring (GVM) is one of the areas of application in the intelligent traffic control system using image processing methods. In this context, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles based on thermal infrared (UAV-TIR) images is one of the optimal options for GVM due to the suitable spatial resolution, cost-effective and low volume of images. The methods that have been prop...
متن کاملFace Recognition as a Biometrics Approach Using Thermal Images
Biometrics is a technology used for measuring and analyzing a person's unique characteristics. Making a secure biometric system is not as easy as it might appear. The word biometrics is very often used as a synonym for the perfect security. Human Biometrics is now moving towards thermal imaging. Thermal imaging is simply the technique of using the heat given off by an object to produce an image...

Although face recognition seems as an easy task for human, automatic face recognition is a much more challenging task due to variations in time, illumination and pose. In this paper, the influence of time-lapse on visible and thermal images is examined. Orthogonal moment invariants are used as a feature extractor to analyze the effect of time-lapse on thermal and visible images and the results ...

متن کاملPose - Invariant Multimodal ( 2 D + 3 D ) Face Recognition using Geodesic Distance Map
In this paper, an efficient pose-invariant face recognition method is proposed. This method is multimodal means that it uses 2D (color) and 3D (depth) information of a face for recognition. In the first step, the geodesic distances of all face points from a reference point are computed. Then, the face points are mapped from the 3D space to a new 2D space. The proposed mapping is robust under th...
